Pound's Nursery was founded in 1950 by the late Darwin Pound. Darwin had a
vision of fields of evergreen trees growing in sections of four rows with a
roadway between each section.
In 1950 he purchased the original home farm of 126 acres that consisted of
woods and brush. He cleared the land in small sections and began to plant trees.
He continued to plant and harvest trees until his death in 1995.
Twila and Darwin Pound were married in 1969 at which time Twila became
secretary of Pound's Nursery. Upon the death of Darwin in 1995, she became the
president and owner of Pound's Nursery, continuing the vision that had been
started. Throughout the years Pound's Nursery has continued to enlarge from
its small and meager beginnings. To date it consists of 500 acres plus of White
Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, Fraser Fir, Austrian Pine,
Norway Spruce, Balsam Fir, Concolor Fir, White Spruce, and the newest tree in
the arena, the Canaan Fir. Pound's Nursery is a wholesale evergreen nursery -
family owned and operated. Pound's Nursery was formed for the purpose of
supplying customers with high quality, competitively priced dug and cut trees,
delivered when promised and to the specification required. David Keener is the
manager of Pound's Nursery. He has been affiliated with the nursery since 1985.
Under his leadership and direction Pound's Nursery continues to grow and
maintain its production of quality trees. 95 percent of the trees that
are harvested each year are balled for replanting and 5 percent are cut for
Christmas. Each spring, new seedlings are planted at Pound's Nursery to replace
those harvested the previous year. Trees beautify the land, make a home for
wildlife as well as cleanse the air, provide oxygen, and protect the water
supply. The Vision Continues:

we always anticipate great new happenings and believe the best is yet to come. |
